April Fools Day: The worst that daytime TV has to offer

These April Fools Clips are so bad, they are funny.

Martha Stewart thinks she is so funny as she figures out it will take 6,220 little dyed pieces to make a queen-sized blanket. But she just isn't very good at the relieve.

Now Ellen Degeneres is actually a comedian so I had higher expectations for her. But again, it is only funny in a that's not funny kind of way.

Ellen scares Christina Applegate twice during the segment and I think Christina enjoyed it more than was scared by it.

April Fools Day: The Office Prank Countdown #2

This is perhaps the apex of Office jokes, even though its from the first episode pilot of the U.S. version. But I wonder if you could actually pull this off. It would take some serious Jell-O skills.

The Office Season 1 Episode 1"Pilot"

In the pilot episode of The Office we meet Michael Scott and get introduced to his offbeat management style. We get to meet the whole office group as well as Ryan the new intern. Gossips starts to arise as news of potential layoffs circles the office.

April Fools Day: Ugly Betty

April Fools Day is tomorrow. It is time to finalize all your plans. You'll find a good use for mayo in this webisode.

Marc and Amanda love to make fun of Betty and April Fools Day gives them the perfect excuse. And as Marc says "What brings people more joy than mean-spirited April Fools pranks at their expense?"

Throughout in this clip Marc and Amanda face a problem we all have, guilt. They start to feel bad for pranking Betty after all the nice things she has done for them.

So the question remains, to prank or not prank. Good luck with your decision of who and how to fool someone tomorrow.

Opening Day of Baseball

Tomorrow is the opening day of baseball season, so here are a few TV clips as you get ready to play ball.

We should probably start with the Star Spangled Banner and here to sing it for us is Bleeding Gums' Murphy.

The Simpsons Season 2 Episode 5 "Dancin' Homer"

This is a great episode. The Simpsons head to an Isotopes game and when Homer is able to excite the crowd, he is made the new mascot. He is such a natural that he get called up to Capital City.

Dirty Jobs "Well Digger"

April Fools Day: The Office (U.K.) Prank Countdown #3

I couldn't ignore The Office's roots when making this prank countdown list. The original Michael Scott, David Brent, likes to have fun around the office. But some might think he takes it a little too far with this one, especially Dawn (or as we know her in the US, Pam).

The Office (U.K.) Season 1 Episode 1 "Downsize" (censored)

Manager David Brent meets with corporate only to find out that either his sales office might be joined with another office causing redundancies which means layoffs. Word spreads around the office and everyone is on edge. If you would like to watch the full episode, it is available on hulu.com

April Fools: An unexpected surprise

I wish I could pull something like this without getting fired.

NewsRadio, Season 2, Episode 14, "The Song Remains the Same"

NewsRadio was a throwback to smart, witty humor with the occasional cheap joke. Oh, where have you gone intelligent comedy?

The episode actually revolves around Dave's favoritism towards girlfriend Lisa, but Jimmy always lightens up the mood with his childishness and impulsive personality. "But if I waited until April I would lose the element of surprise." Simply brilliant.

April Fools Day: The Office Prank Countdown #4

April Fools Day is now only 3 days away so here is my #4 The Office prank. Hopefully it will help you in your planning for Friday.

The Office, Season 3, Episode 11, "Back from Vacation"

Jim doesn't miss an opportunity to mess with Dwight. When Dwight bring a tape recorder to a sale meeting, Jim turns the table.

In the episode, Michael returns from his Jamaican vacation with Jan. When he tries to send a picture to Todd Packer, he ends up sending it to the whole company. This would be a problem if it wasn't a picture of Jan sun bathing.

Meanwhile, Jim freaks out because Karen rents an apartment really close to Jim's. Pam helps them work it out.

April Fools: An April Fool old School

Ah Donna Reed. So wholesome. When Mary Stone slips that a famous singer is recuperating in her home, little brother Jeff uses April Fools Day as a backdrop to scare away the adoring fans.

The Donna Reed Show, Season 1, Episode 28, April Fool

Even 40 years later, this show is just as imaginative as many sitcom plots. The only difference is Donna Reed did it first.

The plot of the show follows young Mary as she gets ready to head out to a "Buzz Barry" concert. But Buzz comes down with the measles. The concert is cancelled by Mary is elated to find that Buzz is recovering in the Stone home.

For Simpsons fan, some of the plot line is strikingly similar to the season 3 episode "Stark Raving Dad," when Homer invites a Michael Jackson impersonator home and Bart spills the news to his friends. Except the Springfield fans are thwarted when they discover its not the King of Pop, but a fat white crazy dude.

April Fools Day: The Office Prank Countdown #5

April Fools Day is this Friday so it is time to start plotting your pranks. The Office is a great resource. This week I will be counting down my picks for the top 5 Office pranks.

This one is number five because although it is funny and gets the whole group involved, it would be pretty hard to replicate. Although I would love to see it done in real life.

The Office Season 7 Episode 6 "Costume Contest"

This is actually a Halloween episode. Pam, as new office administrator, plans a costume contest where the winner get a coupon book that has everyone fighting for the price. Meanwhile, corporate institutes a program that Darrell first presented to Michael which he shut down.

Final Four Intro

Over this past weekend the NCAA basketball's Final Four was determined. Whether you are cheering for VCU, Kentucky, Butler, or Connecticut, it is best not to "ridicule teacher's final four bracket."

The intro to last night's Simpsons episode teaches us that. You might also want to note the billboard. Easter is just a round the corner. "Do not accept candy from this bunny."

The Simspons Season 22 Episode 22 "Love is a Many Strangled Thing"

Last night's episode of The Simpsons was all about Homer and Bart's classic relationship. Homer might have been strangling Bart for 22 seasons now, but during this episode Marge finally tells Homer it is time to get help. Homer goes to a shrink and with the help of some former pro basketball players who are bigger than him sees what if feels like to be Bart.

The full episode is available at hulu.com.

April Fools': Price is Right's Drew Carey still haunted by Mimi

From 2010's Price is Right April Fools episode. Kathy Kinny stops by to reprise one of the most memorable characters in recent television history.

Of course "Mimi" is back to bust Drew's chops about his hosting abilities. Drew Carey has never been quite the perfectionist that Bob Barker was, but at least the guy can laugh at himself. Oh how I miss the Drew Carey Show.

Since Carey took over, The Price is Right has always pulled out the stops for April Fools' Day. Definitely DVRing this year's episode.

Where do you get your April Fools Day prank ideas?

April Fools Day is only a week away so it is time to start plotting. On The Office Jim Halpert is always playing pranks on Dwight Schrute. This week I'll be counting down the best Office pranks. Here is just a little preview to get you excited.

The Office Season 2 Episode 21 "Conflict Resolution"

You know nothing is going to get resolved when Michael puts himself in charge of handling all the complaints people have come to Toby with. Toby was just filing the complaints away realizing that people just want to vent and then they get over the issue. But Michael wants the issues resolved. So he starts reading them aloud so the issues from the past can be confronted and resolved.

It is in this epsiode that Jim decides that he is tried of waiting around for the engaged Pam and applies for a transfer to another branch.

Peanuts: A fool in love

Peanuts Motion Comics, Number 14

Oh this is a good one, especially cause I'm a "little red-haired girl" myself with a special place in my heart for Charlie Brown.

April Fools' Day give Lucy a special chance to trick Charlie Brown (and Linus too). Lucy tells Charlie Brown that his crush wants to have lunch with him. Like always, Charlie is quite angry at the deception.

Then there are exploits on the baseball diamond, again with the little red-haired girl making Charlie Brown distracting Charlie from swinging at the game's final pitch.

Everyone has a little Charlie Brown in them. Self-deprecating, too shy to talk to that special someone. Ah, simpler days.

March Madness of exes

March Madness Continues tonight and on through the weekend. We are all excited to see how our NCAA brackets turn out. But there might be another way to use the bracket system. Barney from How I Met Your Mothers has a pretty creative way.

How I Met Your Mother Barney makes his own bracket to determine which of the women in his past is out to get him.

Charles in Charge: Spring Breaking like a boss

Spring Break might not be an official holiday, but to kids, teens, and college students it might as well be.

Charles in Charge, Season 1 Episode 18 "Charles Spring Break"

Charles is supposed to have a relaxing Spring Break away from his responsibilities and the kids, but everything gets messed up. The group of 6 boys and 6 girls end up having to share one room and Buddy and Charles end up arrested. The full episode is available on hulu.com.

On Tonight: The Middle takes on Spring cleaning

If you haven't checked out The Middle on ABC yet, it's a great off-beat comedy, in the mold of Modern Family and Married with Children.

Tonight at 8/7 they take on the time-honored tradition of spring cleaning in a new episode.

Spring Cleaning factoid: Many believe the tradition dates back to the the Iranian Nowruz, the first day of spring. To this day Iranians participate in a "shaking of the house" to clean in anticipation of spring.

Mama's Family: April Fools downers are easy targets

Season 5, episode 104: April Fools

Always remember that the more you hate something, the more it makes you a target. Deathly fear of spiders? Fake spider pranks? Hate a particular holiday (like April Fools)? Prank target number one.

Remember Mama, the curmudgeony matriarch? She'll obviously she'll fall victim to many  pranks. In this clip she falls for some good-old wordplay humor with lemon spongecake.

Later in the episode, after years of being the butt of jokes, she's fed up and decides a prank of her own will show everyone who's the boss.

Three Best Game Show Fools

3 - Wheel of Fortune - Pat Sajak living a lie?

April 1, 2008

The bald cap was so convincing that people were actually convinced that host Pat Sajak wore a hair piece. Even eternally youthful co-host Vanna White was taken aback by the revelation. But it was a gag. Sajak explained it about a month later.

Community: March 32?

With every April Fools prank you have to worry about the backlash. But who would expect April 1st to be taken away and replaced with March 32?

Season 1 Episode 20 - The Science of Illusion

Finally, an entire episode dedicated to April Fools Day. These are few and far between. The main plot follows Britta  as she tries to impress the gang with a prank. But when she breaks into the the biology lab to steal a frog (which she intends to put a sombrero on and stick in Chang's desk, since he is afraid of frogs), she kills the frog and knocks a cadaver out the window.

A prank gone horribly wrong seems to follow traditional April Fools' Day storylines, but the real gold is the gag Jeff and Abed pull on gullible Pierce, tricking him into wearing a wizard robe around campus by convincing him it is part of a Buddhist ceremony.

There's also Annie and Shirley trying to one-up each other as tough cops (security guards) and Dean Pelton's war on April 1 (March 32nd to him). Maybe one of the best April Fools' Day themed episodes in recent memory.

Kenan & Kel: I can't believe I still laugh at this

Not much subtlety in a show like Kenan & Kel, but for some reason I still chuckled during a few of the bits.

Season 4, Episode 12 - The April Fools

Check out part two here.

Pies to the face, face lottery tickets, trick sandwiches, this show doesn't exactly win awards for high-brow humor, but you have to give Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell credit for the non-stop gags. Of course, everything goes wrong in the end and the police get involved.

For some reason Thompson, of current Saturday Night Live fame, still looks exactly the same. His humor hasn't changed much either. As for Kel, well, I hope he bought plenty of orange soda.

Full House: April Fools lottery prank on Joey

Only a Full House April Fools prank could end in hugs.

Season 7 Episode 19 - Love on the Rocks.

Sorry about the link. Embedding was disabled. Enjoy.

Vowing revenge on Joey the prankster, the gang decides pull a prank of their own with a fake lottery ticket. But as always, Joey turns the tables and gets the last laugh. The episode isn't really about April Fools', more about the family-friendly romance between D.J. and Steve, but the joke subplot adds some life to the episode.

The Simpsons: April Fools Day Origins

As far as holidays go, April Fools' gets the shaft in the holiday hierarchy. But what other day gives you permission to humiliate your boss, teacher or spouse? So are The Simpsons pulling our chains with their pagan origins story? Even back in season 4, I wouldn't put it past Matt Groening and company.

Season 4, episode 18 - So It's Come to This: A Simpsons Clip Show

Classic April Fools material. The show actually aired on April 1, 1993, but its still a classic today. Isn't it great how Homer and Bart haven't seemed to grasp what's "over the line?" The gag culminates in Bart pulling the ultimate prank, shaking a beer can in a paint mixing machine. The subsequent beer explosion ("We need pretzels, repeat pretzels") puts Homer in the hospital and kicks off a clip show as the family reminisces.
