Opening Day of Baseball

Tomorrow is the opening day of baseball season, so here are a few TV clips as you get ready to play ball.

We should probably start with the Star Spangled Banner and here to sing it for us is Bleeding Gums' Murphy.

The Simpsons Season 2 Episode 5 "Dancin' Homer"



This is a great episode. The Simpsons head to an Isotopes game and when Homer is able to excite the crowd, he is made the new mascot. He is such a natural that he get called up to Capital City.

Dirty Jobs "Well Digger"



Host Mike Rowe learns the dirties play of baseball, the headfirst slide.


In this episode of Dirty Jobs, Mike learns what it is like to be a grounds keeper for the Bowie Baysoxs.  He also works with a well digger.

Our last clip is from the CW's Gilmore Girls. Although this clip is really about Rory taking her dad to watch Dean play baseball, it's got a nice bit of diamond trash talk.

This episode is Gilmore Girls' introduction to Christopher Hayden, Rory's father. Actually he rides up on a motorcycle at the end the last episode.  It is also the first time Rory meets Christopher's parents.
